JetSMART Airlines has added a new Airbus A321neo to its Argentine subsidiary, bringing its active fleet to 15 aircraft. According to the company, the A321neo, registered as CC-DIS, reduces fuel consumption by 20% compared to previous generations due to its advanced engines and aerodynamic improvements. This operational efficiency results in lower emissions and greater range for medium-haul flights.
JetSMART did not specify whether this aircraft will be used exclusively for domestic operations in Argentina or for international routes from the country. The Argentine subsidiary currently operates domestic flights from its hub at Buenos Aires' Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, connecting cities such as Córdoba, Mendoza, Salta, Iguazú, Bariloche, and Neuquén. The airline also serves international destinations from Argentina, including Santiago de Chile, Lima, and Asunción, though most A321neo operations remain concentrated in JetSMART's Chilean unit.
The new A321neo in JetSMART Argentina's fleet has a capacity of over 230 passengers in a single-class configuration, aligning with the airline's low-cost model. This aircraft allows for increased seating capacity per flight without requiring additional frequencies, which is significant during high demand or when facing airport operational constraints. The plane is already operating domestic flights within Argentina. It features a monkey illustration on its tail, continuing JetSMART's tradition of decorating each aircraft with animals representative of South American wildlife.
