Hong Kong Airlines has launched a daily direct flight to Sydney, Australia, marking its expansion as the 52nd airline at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. Operating Airbus A330-300s with 24-30 business and 255-279 economy seats, the service (HX017/018) departs Hong Kong at 22:25, arriving Sydney at 09:50, with the return leaving at 11:30, arriving 19:10. This route, supported by expanded bilateral traffic rights, joins Cathay Pacific and Qantas, enhancing travel options.
Hong Kong Airlines, part of HNA Group, also serves the Gold Coast seasonally and plans a Melbourne route, competing with the same carriers. To celebrate, passengers transiting through Hong Kong to destinations like Vancouver or Tokyo between June 20 and October 31, 2025, can access the Club Autus Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport. The airline's fleet includes 17 Airbus A320-200, three A321-200, and 11 A330-300, supporting its growing network across Asia and the Pacific.
This Sydney launch, alongside resumed routes like Vancouver and increased seasonal services to the Maldives and Shanghai, reflects Hong Kong Airlines' strategic transformation into an international full-service carrier, strengthening economic and leisure ties between Hong Kong and Australia.
