The construction of the world's largest airport is underway and is expected to open its doors in 2030. This is the King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which will feature six runways.The project covers an area of approximately 57 square kilometers and includes the existing terminals of King Khalid International Airport. It also encompasses 12 square kilometers with residential and recreational facilities, shops, and airport support services.Norman Foster's firm has won the competition to design this airport, which is intended to achieve LEED Platinum certification. Additionally, it aims to accommodate up to 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050.The Saudi Press Agency expects the new airport to become an "aerotropolis focused on a seamless customer journey, world-class efficient operations, and innovation," as reported by The Sun.The King Salman International Airport is also expected to generate around 150,000 jobs in the area, although it is not yet known which airlines will operate there.
