The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched a ranking system for Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) in India, effective October 1, 2025, to enhance the quality and safety of pilot training.

This initiative follows several incidents involving FTO aircraft, prompting a push for a more transparent and performance-driven training ecosystem. Rankings will be published biannually on October 1 and April 1, evaluating FTOs based on various parameters. FTOs scoring below 50% will receive a notice for self-analysis and improvement.

The DGCA aims to ensure consistent training quality and standardization while providing aspiring pilots and their families a reliable guide to choose credible institutions based on safety, quality, and training outcomes, rather than just location or cost. This move underscores the DGCA's commitment to fostering a robust and safe pilot training environment in India.
