Japan, Hawaii, the US West Coast, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, and New Zealand faced potential risks. Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines suspended flights to Hawaii. Hawaiian Airlines advised passengers to check flight statuses, while Alaska Air Group issued a travel waiver. In Japan, nearly two million people evacuated high-risk areas, bracing for waves up to nine feet. 

Japan's Meteorological Agency reported tsunami waves in Fukushima, Miyagi, and Iwate. Sendai Airport closed its runway, leading to flight cancellations by All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, AIRDO, and IBEX Airlines. Taiwanese carriers Eva Airways, Starlux Airlines, and Tigerair Taiwan also canceled flights to Sendai. 

The BBC reported widespread disruptions as airlines and airports responded to the crisis. Authorities continue monitoring conditions, with ongoing evacuations and operational adjustments to ensure safety across affected regions.
