The latest news on the easyJet strike in Spain indicates significant disruptions due to a three-day cabin crew strike organized by the USO union, running from June 25 to June 27, 2025, affecting flights to and from Barcelona, Málaga, Alicante, and Palma de Mallorca. The strike, involving 657 cabin crew across 21 aircraft, stems from demands for better pay and working conditions, as Spanish crew earn significantly less (base salary €14,067) compared to European counterparts, such as Portugal (€18,214) or Switzerland (over 200% more).
On June 25, 62 flights (31 cancellations each way) were canceled, and on June 26, another 62 flights were canceled, totaling 124 cancellations so far, with more expected on June 27. Affected routes include connections to UK airports like London Gatwick, Manchester, Bristol, and others, as well as European destinations like Basel, Geneva, and Lisbon. The USO reports 85% workforce participation and has criticized easyJet for allegedly undermining the strike by using foreign crew and pressuring sick leave employees. Spain's Ministry of Transport mandated 80–90% minimum service levels, which the union calls "abusive," limiting the strike's impact but still causing delays and cancellations.
easyJet is contacting affected passengers directly, offering rebooking, refunds, or accommodations, and advises checking their Flight Tracker for updates. The union has threatened an indefinite strike starting in August if negotiations fail.
