British Airways suspends flights to Dubai and Qatar

British Airways has halted all flights to Dubai and Doha, Qatar, following US bombing raids on Iran last night. The airline cited "recent events" and prioritized passenger safety, stating, "Due to recent developments, we've adjusted our flight schedules to ensure the safety of our customers and crew, which remains our top priority." Affected passengers are being contacted with options as the situation evolves.Approximately 1,000 passengers are stranded in the UAE after British Airways canceled four flights from London Heathrow to Dubai.

One flight, which left Heathrow for Dubai at 9:53 PM Saturday, was diverted and landed in Zurich after nine hours. Another BA flight from Chennai, India, to London turned back mid-journey but later refueled and completed its trip.American Airlines, United Airlines, and Finnair also canceled flights to Doha or Dubai before the strikes. 

Israel closed its airspace yesterday morning, though Arkia plans to resume rescue flights for stranded Israelis. The British Foreign Office recently issued a travel alert for Oman, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, warning of potential disruptions like airspace closures and flight cancellations.Flightradar24 reported that commercial air traffic in the Middle East remains stable despite the US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, operating normally under airspace restrictions set last week. 

Western carriers continue to avoid Russian airspace, rerouting through a narrow corridor over Turkey, the Caspian Sea, and Central Asia.
