An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner (Flight AI171), carrying 242 passengers and crew from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, India. The plane, which departed at 1:39 PM local time, lost signal seconds after reaching 625 feet and crashed into a residential area in Meghani Nagar, reportedly hitting a doctors' hostel and a student canteen. Thick black smoke and flames were reported, with debris scattered across the site.

Casualties and Injuries: At least 133 people were killed, with unconfirmed reports of additional casualties. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, a passenger, was severely injured. Rescue operations are ongoing, with the injured being treated at nearby hospitals like Civil Hospital Ahmedabad. Approximately 70-80% of the crash site has been cleared.

Passenger Details: The flight carried 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian, including 217 adults, 11 children, 2 pilots, and 10 cabin crew members. Air India has set up a hotline (1800 5691 444) for information.

Official Responses: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the tragedy "heartbreaking," directing Home Minister Amit Shah and others to assist. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy expressed condolences, with the UK offering support and a hotline (020 7008 5000) for British nationals. Leaders from China, Iran, and Ukraine also extended sympathies.

Investigation and Impact: The crash, potentially one of India's deadliest in decades, involved a mayday call from the pilot, Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, suggesting engine failure or a stall. Boeing's shares dropped 7.5% in pre-market trading. The airport has suspended operations, and investigations are underway by India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Air India.

Misinformation Warning: A viral video claiming to show the crash is actually from a 2023 Nepal incident, as confirmed by fact-checks.

Rescue efforts continue, with global attention on the disaster.

My flight experiences wants to spress condolences  to the families.

REST IN PEACE
