Ajet, a Turkish Airlines subsidiary, will add five Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet through a lease agreement with Dublin-based SMBC Aviation Capital, announced on July 4, 2025. Deliveries are set to begin by year-end and continue through Q2 2026, with Ajet exclusively operating the aircraft.
This deal brings SMBC's total aircraft placements with Turkish Airlines to 25 since 2022. Turkish Airlines CFO Murat Şeker highlighted the A320neos' fuel efficiency and cost-effectiveness, supporting Ajet's mission to make air travel affordable and sustainable.
Ajet, rebranded from AnadoluJet in 2024, operates a 90-aircraft fleet, with 80% on wet lease, including five A320-200s and 15 Boeing 737-800s. The carrier awaits delivery of 10 A321neos and 12 737 MAX 8s. SMBC's CCO, Barry Flannery, emphasized the deal's role in enhancing Ajet's operations and sustainability, reinforcing the strong partnership with Turkish Airlines.
